Causes of Tennis Elbow

Tennis Elbow is caused by the degenerative changes in the extensor carpi radialis brevis muscle. This muscle is the extensor of the wrist. Repetitive extension of the wrist against resistance causes strain and degenerative changes in this muscle. Any work that involves repetitive wrist extension like playing tennis, badminton, using screwdriver, painting or typing may cause tennis elbow.

Symptoms of Tennis Elbow

  • Pain in outside of the elbow
  • Elbow pain worsens and radiates to forearm while grasping the object
  • Pain on palpating little below the outer elbow
  • Weakness in the wrist movements
