How Can Chiropractic Treatment Improve Digestion

by Administrator 26. April 2018 21:06

The digestive system plays an important role in keeping body in optimal condition. For overall well-being, it is important to address digestive problems immediately rather than to linger on the treatment. Liver and digestive tract are the most common areas where problems normally occur. Chiropractic therapy has come up as one of the prominent treatment procedures which has shown remarkable results for digestive issues. The therapy works on improving digestion by adjusting spine and nervous system so that brain can coordinate with digestive system effectively.

The Digestive System And Chiropractic Care

Almost everything in the digestive system is controlled by nervous system of the body. Disruptions in the nervous system can lead to digestive problems such as heartburn, indigestion, acid reflux, diarrhoea, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome etc. People might suffer from inflammation in the digestive tract, food allergy or any other disease which may cause such problems in the digestive system. If not treated properly, these digestive issues can negatively affect the whole gastrointestinal tract and in some cases can even be life threatening.

Chiropractic care helps in alleviating all these problems without any surgery & medications. The approach that chiropractic applies to resolve digestive issues is to correct subluxations that are irritating the nerve structure and creating problems in the stomach.

The chiropractor helps in restoring normal communication between the brain and the stomach. When these two are in harmony, the digestive system works best. Chiropractic balances the sympathetic, parasympathetic and nerve system of the body. It is a non-toxic and extremely effective way to achieve optimal digestive health.

Chiropractic care is effective for treating digestive issues in both adults and infants. Infants suffering from diarrhoea and infrequent bowel movements can be safely treated with chiropractic adjustments.

In addition to the above, the holistic approach of chiropractic calls for a healthy dietary lifestyle, regular exercise and natural supplements for maintaining the health of the digestive system. This is instrumental in improving the functions of body on a whole.

Chiropractic Care For Subluxation

by Administrator 10. April 2018 20:47

Subluxation refers to the misalignment of the spinal joints (vertebrae) which interfere with the brain and body’s nerve communication leading to functional loss. A subluxation can occur at any age and is usually caused by physical toxins and stress.

Causes Of Subluxation

  • Trauma from physical impact (sports injuries, sleeping in the wrong position, incorrect lifting etc.)
  • Toxins from a poor diet
  • Stress

Subluxation causes pressure and stress on the spinal nerves, muscles and blood vessels resulting in an imbalance of normal processes of the body. Untreated subluxation then results in further damage and eventual degeneration of the nerves. Visiting a licensed chiropractor can help in reducing the effects of subluxations and maintaining good health.

Chiropractors specialize in correcting subluxations. They re-align the misaligned vertebrae by restoring them to correct position in the spinal column. This is done manually. The process is known as spinal adjustment.

Phases Of Subluxation

Phase 1: It affects the normal curve of the spine and usually causes a reverse curve in the neck. No pain is associated with this phase. Spinal adjustment is highly recommended at this stage.

Phase 2: It has the symptoms of the first phase coupled with reduced range of motion in the affected area. It leads to the build-up of calcium deposits on certain areas of the spine. One starts to feel stiff and achy. A significant improvement can be made with chiropractic adjustment in this phase.

Phase 3: Everything in the previous phases get even worse. Decreased disc space and abnormal curvatures are noticed. Chiropractic reconstructive care for a stretch of 2.5 to 3.5 years is recommended for subluxations in this phase.

Phase 4: A huge amount of neurological damage is noticed. The disc spaces appear blurred and there are huge calcium changes. Severely restricted range of motion is seen in this phase. Reconstruction is usually not possible at this stage of subluxation. Chiropractic care has been shown to bring about positive changes in this phase too. With chiropractic care, symptoms significantly improve, mobility increases and the quality of life is much better.

Chiropractors apply pressure to the spine using their hands. The pressure is applied in a specific direction or towards a specific location. The manual thrust helps in aligning the vertebrae and increases its mobility.

A chiropractor may also resort to treating the subluxation with the help of special instruments. The instruments help in detecting the subluxation and adjusting the spine. However, chiropractic adjustments are a painless and non-intrusive, natural way of treating subluxations.
