Backpacks And Chiropractics

by Administrator 28. September 2011 14:47

Backpacks may be required in several situations. They are widely used for travelling, trekking or for carrying books for study if one is enrolled as a student. They are quite popular as one’s hands remain totally free of any load if one is carrying a back pack. It is a very easy way to carry heavy loads or a collection of many items that cannot be put in a small bag. However, in recent years, backpacks have been known to cause several kinds of back related problems that if left untreated can spiral into major health ailments.

The president of the California Chiropractic Association has been quoted as stating that as she is a mother of a young school child, she is well aware of the popularity of different backpacks featuring cartoon characters and bright, vibrant colors that kids demand. She wishes to fulfill her duty as a mother and a doctor by doing what is best for the health and well being of her children in the long run. She goes on to say that before a purchase of a new back pack for kids is made, it is extremely important to discuss the kind of bag that your child wants. After this, a few tips can be kept in mind in order to ensure the right kind of back pack that does not put too much strain on the spine is bought.

There are several things that can be considered while purchasing a new back pack. Some of them are:

  • The bag must have shoulder straps of enough width that can properly distribute the weight of the bag evenly onto the shoulders. Apart from this, the shoulder straps must be padded so that they do not dig into the shoulders of the child.
  • The back of the back pack should also be padded so that it provides sufficient support and makes it easier and more comfortable to carry the bag.
  • Back packs having waist belts should be preferred as the stomach area can help carry the load of the bag and the shoulders or spine does not have to bear the whole brunt of carrying the bag.

It is important to maintain healthy lifestyle for kids. Chiropractic Therapy For Accident Victims

by Administrator 22. September 2011 08:44

Reportedly more than 6 million car accidents take place in the US every year which results in permanent health or disability problems for 1.5 million victims. It has been seen that in most cases injuries caused due to car accident often go unnoticed and untreated. This is so because there are no instant issues experienced by the wounded.

Most of the victims of motor vehicle accidents are believed to struggle with chronic pains from their injuries. Whenever an automobile meets with an accident a great amount of force is exerted on the neck and spine which with time can result in headaches, neck pain, mid-back pain, low back pain, a herniated disk or disk bulge, muscle pain, shoulder pain, wrist pain, knee pain and whiplash etc. This makes it very important to have a thorough check up to make sure such after effects does not occur.

Chiropractic therapy can help accident victims not only to get relieved from instant pain but also treat them with their medical condition so that health issues does not surface in times to come. However in case of broken bones, Orthopedicians should be consulted.

As chiropractic care is one effective, drug free, natural and perfect answer to inflammation and tension caused in the body. Soft tissue injuries can be best cured by Chiropractors. Chiropractic therapy helps to restore the normal motion of spinal joints, loosen tight muscles, and assuage tendons and ligament. Chiropractic therapy involves manual spinal adjustments and it addresses the interference that the spine might be causing with the healing of soft tissue injuries.

It is possible that during an accident your lower back and neck is most affected. In such cases accident victims can benefit a lot from chiropractic care. In case of whiplash it is possible that the person may experience neck pain, headaches, fatigue, shoulder pain, anxiety, lower back pain and jaw pain. In this case, chiropractic care helps re-establish the normal movement of joints. With the help of chiropractic care the patient will hence feel pain free. The chiropractors might as well make use of other forms of therapies.

Chiropractic Care To Improve Body Physiology

by Administrator 13. September 2011 17:10

The Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research also known as the JVSR featured a research study establishing a link between the physiological characteristics of the body and repair of DNA. This study was published in the February 18, 2005 issue. The March 2005 issue of the Medical News Today prepared an important report on the results of this study from data gathered from the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research. The study mentioned above was a result of the joint efforts by chiropractors and research scientists belonging to the University of Lund based in Sweden. It presented facts that stated that chiropractic therapy could have a positive effect on the physical processes that have a bearing on DNA repair and the presence of oxidative stress in the body of an individual.

The report stated that serum thiols are the main antioxidant ingredients. These antioxidant elements can be used to assess the state of health of an individual and the level of DNA repair activity occurring due to action of enzymes in the body. These aspects have shown a relation with total life span and the ageing process in past studies by eminent experts. In the present study, a record was made of the serum thiol levels in twenty one individuals who were suffering from chronic pain problems and were also undergoing chiropractic treatments from trained doctors. The levels of the same element in patients who were not suffering from any symptoms and had already undergone chiropractic therapy were also noted. Both the results were then evaluated on the basis of comparisons made with a third group comprising of thirty people who had never received chiropractic therapy sessions.

The results showcased that the individuals who were still showing painful symptoms had the least amount of antioxidants while those who had received chiropractic therapy in the past and were without symptoms shower relatively much higher levels of the serum. On the other hand, those who did not receive any chiropractic sessions reported the lowest amount of antioxidants. The data gathered from this study lead to the conclusion that various factors like physical, chemical and emotional stress could have adverse effects on the working of the nervous system and even lead to changes in the way DNA repair is done inside the cells. High antioxidant levels that can be brought about with chiropractic therapy can significantly help in removing oxidative stress.

How Chiropractic Therapy Can Help in Back Pain

by Administrator 7. September 2011 13:16

Chiropractic therapy is an area of treatment that aims at curing several ailments related to the muscles, skeletal system and the nervous system. This kind of treatment does not require any surgery or invasive procedures. There is simply an exterior manipulation of the muscle groups or certain areas of the body in order to bring about a change in the internal systems. These manipulations help in correction of subluxations that in turn provide considerable relief from recurrent pain. Apart from focus on the affected area, the organs or areas surrounding it are also manipulated and altered in order to provide a permanent cure.

Most chiropractic treatments are aimed at relieving back pain, neck pain or other kinds of joint pains. Some of them can even help treat headaches and migraines by manipulating the spinal area. Most patients undertaking chiropractic therapy are those that are affected with severe pain in the upper or lower back. This pain may be a standalone complaint or may even be a symptom of another disease. Before prescribing appropriate chiropractic treatment, several tests are conducted to rule out other ailments of which back pain may be a symptom.

There are several aspects that form a part of chiropractic treatment. There are spinal manipulations involved in this kind of therapy in which pressure is applied to this area to bring about the required chiropractic adjustments. These adjustments help in more flexible movement and increased mobility for the patients. The manipulations are done manually with a skilled hand of a certified chiropractor. Even if you are taking regular treatment for an ailment, chiropractic therapy may be taken as an additional treatment to ease chronic pain.

Apart from maneuvering the different muscles and the nerves associated with the affected area, there are also certain exercises involved that may be prescribed to the patient. The chiropractor will also stretch and move the joints and muscles so that there is mobilization of the muscles. This helps increase the motion of the affected parts. Apart from this, the patient is educated about the kind of movements that can result in back pain and the kind of nutrition that they require to remain on the path to recovery.
